This recent hand-painted kitchen project in Brentwood shows how a simple colour refresh can completely elevate a space. My customer’s oak-look kitchen had plenty of warmth and character, but they wanted a lighter, more modern feel without replacing the existing units. By repainting the cabinetry in Portland by Little Greene—a soft, light grey—we achieved exactly that.
Portland works beautifully with the natural tones of oak, adding brightness and balance while keeping the room calm and timeless. The hand-painted finish gives the kitchen a crafted, bespoke look, enhancing the texture of the oak-look surfaces rather than hiding them.
The transformation was clean, elegant, and refreshingly cost-effective—and the customer was more than happy with the final finish. With a few décor updates and improved lighting, the kitchen now feels brighter, fresher, and effortlessly stylish.
