Installing wallpaper is an excellent way to add depth, character, and style to any space. Achieving a professional result requires careful preparation, precision, and patience.
Begin by preparing the wall surface. Remove any existing wallpaper, fill imperfections, and sand rough areas to ensure a smooth finish. Clean the wall thoroughly to remove dust or grease, then apply a primer or sizing solution to promote adhesion and make future removal easier.
Measure the height of your walls and cut each wallpaper strip with an allowance of about 5–10 cm at both ends for trimming. When working with patterned wallpaper, align the design carefully before cutting subsequent strips to ensure seamless continuity.
Depending on the wallpaper type, apply adhesive either to the wall or the back of the paper. Use a plumb line or spirit level to position your first strip perfectly straight—accuracy here determines the success of the entire installation. Smooth the wallpaper from the centre outward using a wallpaper brush or smoother to eliminate bubbles and wrinkles.
Trim the excess neatly with a sharp knife and wipe away any residual paste. Continue matching each strip precisely. The result: a flawless, professional-quality finish that elevates your interior.
