Farrow and Ball Kitchen Makeover

Location: Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire

Multi-tone wooden door fronts were all the rage back in the day but can all too easily make a kitchen look very dated. Our client in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, called us in to breath new life into their kitchen for them.

Solid wooden kitchen doors and drawer fronts are good quality and sturdy, so retaining them and having them professionally painted is a sensible solution.

We began by stripping the units of their fittings and applying a coat of Zinsser B-I-N primer, followed by two oil-based undercoats in Farrow and Ball Cornforth White. As always, a light sanding between each coat ensures a quality finish. The final top coat was an oil-based Eggshell in Farrow and Ball Cornforth White. The best part is refitting all the handles revealing the finished product – a modern kitchen look created from old and tired units.

Cornforth White is the mid tone in the group of Easy Neutrals which are totally understated and extremely versatile. Neither too warm nor too cool, Cornforth White sits contentedly between Ammonite and Purbeck Stone to create a hushed and calming retreat. Named in memory of John Cornforth, the revered architectural historian, contrast with Wevet to enhance its grey qualities.
