Two-tone Chest of Drawers

This old chest of drawers was originally stained in dark oak. It certainly wasn’t time for our client to think about getting rid of it as this piece of furniture had been in their family for some years
After looking at the piece, we discussed with them the options and I advised painting the unit in farrow and ball Cornforth white eggshell and keeping the top in dark oak satin.
After careful preparation, we primed the chest of drawers and followed this with two undercoats and one finish coat of eggshell paint. The worktop was sanded down and then three coats of dark oak stain satin finish were applied.

Cornforth White is the mid-tone in the group of Easy Neutrals which are totally understated and extremely versatile. Neither too warm nor too cool, Cornforth White sits contentedly between Ammonite and Purbeck Stone to create a hushed and calming retreat. Named in memory of John Cornforth, the revered architectural historian, contrast with Wevet to enhance its grey qualities.
